Featured Sanibel Captiva Activity: Wildlife Viewing
Sanibel Island is ranked high among America's most environmentally
sensitive preservationist societies. The Sanibel Captiva Conservation Foundation (SCCF) is
just one of the many not-for-profit organizations dedicated to the preservation of natural resources and wildlife
habitat on and around our barrier Islands. Visit the SCCF Nature Center and enjoy their exhibits, 4 miles of walking
trails, native plant nursery, butterfly house and gift shop.
Thanks to Sanibel's ecology-minded population, over half the island has been set aside as a national wildlife refuge.
Be sure to spend some time in J.N. "Ding" Darling National Wildlife Refuge,
where you'll find ample opportunity to view over 250 different species of birds alone. You may spot alligators
or even a crocodile as you explore the miles of trails by boat, car, tram, bike or on foot.

on the Islands
Award-winning restaurants are another reason that visitors flock to the Islands. Two of our
eateries have been listed on the "Top 500 in the America," and several have been featured in national
magazines and on television. Get your taste buds ready for the freshest of seafood, regional sauces, local
spices, and of course - lots of key lime pie.

also find a wonderful assortment of casual eateries; everything from delis to burger joints and raw bars to pizza are
all easily accessible from the bike path.
The best news of all is that there are no jackets required
anywhere, but you'll want to adopt our island-casual style. Nautical-theme collared shirts, shorts or khakis and deck
shoes or boat wear are all the rage for men. Ladies will find that an assortment of colorful cotton clothing, including capri pants
camisols with cover sweater, sandals and swim wear with cover-up will serve them well.
